If you are an outdoors person that does not get discouraged by a sunset, you know how important a headlamp is. A headlamp allows you to have your hands free to set up the tent, look at the map, catch fish with your bare hands and fight bears that try to steal your fish. No matter which adventure you are going on, a headlamp is your best friend, when the darkness sets in. Our selection of headlamps allows you to choose which one is best for your purpose. Maybe the brightness and the range are important to you? Maybe you need it to have a rechargeable battery? No worries, we have something for you, no matter the preference. The common thing for all of them is that they are light and compact, so they fit perfectly in the hiking bag, almost no matter how much survival gear you have packed for your forest trip.
If you have ever changed a lightbulb, you are familiar with the word ‘lumen’. If you have lived in the dark all your life, you should know that lumen is a unit of measurement for luminous flux, which is the amount of light that a light source gives out. The higher the lumen number in a light source, the brighter it is. So the more light you need, the higher lumen you need to choose. Quite simple. A good rule of thumb is that the faster you need to move, the brighter the light you need. A headlamp with 100 lumen gives enough light to be able to find your way inside the tent or to navigate around in the dark crawlspace for spiders. 200-300 lumen is the ideal choice, if you are the type that gets up early in the morning to run, so you can laugh at people coming home from a night out. You absolutely don’t feel like having the pizza they are having. You have your powerbar and your good workout! 500-600 lumen give you enough light to be able to navigate big areas and it is good, for example, for an orientation run in the woods. Higher brightness also means bigger battery consumption, which is the reason most new headlamps have adjustable brightness, so you do not burn off your battery on looking for your sports bottle.
